This incredible "3D to 2D" sequence was made by Bird Chen.
Bird Chen, a 3D Artist and retro anime and arcade enthusiast, has recently astounded thousands of people on Twitter by showcasing a remarkable 3D animation sequence, which can easily be mistaken for 2D at first glance.
Leveraging Blender's animation capabilities, the artist has managed to set up a fantastic anime-style sequence, featuring tons of intricate details such as outstanding non-photorealistic wind-blown hair, swaying grass, and the character's billowing shirt.
According to the creator, the artwork pays tribute to "How Do You Live?", a.k.a. The Boy and the Heron, a 2023 Japanese animated fantasy film produced by Studio Ghibli and directed by the legendary Hayao Miyazaki, the creative mind behind such masterpieces as My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away, and countless others.
