Jussi-Petteri Kemppainen, the principal VFX artist at Remedy Games, is also a solo developer working on an upcoming vehicle combat game titled Drivers of the Apocalypse. He recently showcased a smooth and satisfying customization process for painting cars in a clip on X/Twitter, including how to add various decals, adjust their sizes and positions, switch colors using a palette, and finally, place the customized cars into the game scene.
This is not the first time we covered cool features of Drivers of the Apocalypse, as last year, the retro upgrade tree system was developed for it. If you're not familiar with this high-octane action-driving combat game yet, it's set in a vast wasteland, and you play a junior mercenary, Artemis, who is working for the formidable Thunder Strike Force. Your mission is to "stop deadly convoys, defeat powerful bosses, and survive."
The game features dynamic vehicle combat that allows players to jump from one car to another in mid-battle, switching between different vehicles on the fly. It also promises epic boss fights, with huge convoys and powerful leaders to be taken down — fun destruction and crazy fire alerts.
In this newly released montage, the developer showcased what has happened on days 230-268 since he solo developed this project every night, including a photo mode, polished UI, chrome mode, player vehicle weapons load-outs, and more:
Besides, we can dive into the game's weapons, like a powerful Saw blade launcher, combats, functional weapon selection, and more, through the following footage:
Drivers of the Apocalypse's release date is yet to be announced. If you're into such a game, don't hesitate to add it to your Steam wishlist and follow the developer to receive the daily game updates.
