The animation was created by Nick Whitmire.
Nick Whitmire, a skilled Lead Cinematic Animator with nearly two decades of experience in the field of 3D animation, has recently shared a short demo showcasing the behind-the-scenes of a realistic crab animation shared a couple of weeks ago.
Boasting an impeccable fluidity of movement, anatomical accuracy, and high attention to detail, the animation was set up as a personal project in Maya, a 3D character creation, VFX, rigging, animation, and simulation software by Autodesk. Additionally, the artist utilized the Crab Maya Rig created by the renowned Châu Võ Bá Trường, a.k.a. Truong CG Artist.

And here are some more of the artist's amazing projects:
As for the rig itself, it was created several years ago using Maya's Advanced Skeleton and is compatible with Maya 2014 or higher. The rig is free-to-use for non-commercial projects, like demo reels, animation practice, student works, etc., but can also be purchased for commercial use.
