The new media firm, created by Sonic the Hedgehog film producer Dmitri Johnson and John Wick writer Derek Kolstad, will be "tripling down" on video game adaptations.
Co-producer of the Sonic the Hedgehog movie series Dmitri Johnson has teamed up with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad to create a new media company called Story Kitchen.
Johnson is also the founder of dj2 Entertainment, a company that specializes in bringing famous game franchises to the big screen and broader entertainment.
The studio has helped make a movie adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog and is currently working on several more video game adaptations including It Takes Two film and TV series adaptations, Disco Elysium and Life Is Strange shows, and a Tomb Raider TV series.
Kolstad is best known for his work on the John Wick movies and he is also currently working on a Splinter Cell anime that will be aired on Netflix. The founding members also include APA partner Mike Goldberg, who worked with dj2 Entertainment and its clients.
In an email to GamesBeat, Johnson stated that the newly-formed firm will create more video game franchises turned into movies. Johnson noted that Story Kitchen will be "tripling down on adaptations" and shared that the company already has "some unannounced adaptations in the works."
