Sony Invites Players Randomly to Test Cloud Streaming on PlayStation 5

The PS5 service in beta currently supports resolutions of 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 4K.

A new report reveals PS5 users have started receiving access to testing cloud streaming PS5 games. It appears that the company is choosing participants randomly, plus the team hasn't commented on the news as of this moment.

The new service supports different resolutions including 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. Console streaming service from Son'y main competitor, Xbox Cloud Gaming by Microsoft, currently does not support 4K resolution.

"When this feature launches, cloud game streaming for supported PS5 titles will be available for use directly on your PS5 console,” Sony said on cloud streaming previously. "That means as a Premium member, it’ll be easier to jump into your favorite games without downloading them first onto your PS5 console."

The service is expected to launch for everyone at a later time. Little is known about the specific date though. The service should be available to PS Plus Premium subscribers.

"We observe mobility in gaming habits to be an increasingly important trend, and the cloud will be fundamental to allowing us, or indeed anybody else, to exploit that trend," Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan said.
