The developers who qualify will be able to receive one PS5 development kit and one PS5 testing kit.
Sony has announced a new initiative that will allow newly licensed PlayStation game publishers and developers to receive one PS5 development kit and one PS5 testing kit for free.
To participate in the program, developers and publishers will have to sign up with PlayStation Partners to become an SIE licensed publisher or developer. Those who wish to apply must be a legal entity such as a corporation, company, or partnership (applicants from Europe can also be sole traders, i.e. individuals who own their own business, are self-employed, and are over 18 years old).
If you want to apply and be a PlayStation partner, you have to send your company details, a corporate domain email address that contains a part or all of your name, a static or VPN IP address, and a project pitch. Sole traders must provide a scanned copy of their passport as proof of age.
Access to PS5 development and testing kits will be provided under special conditions, which will be specified by the Sony team.
PlayStation 5 devkits will be delivered directly to a number of countries including the UK, the USA, Canada, Sweden, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Italy, and more. The full list of countries can be found here. The company also named several countries where developers and publishers also can get devkits, although they'll have to receive them in the countries where the devices are sent directly. You can learn more about the program here.
