Sony is quite productive in patent filings, and we've highlighted at least a couple of them over the past year. Many of these aim to tackle accessibility challenges or improve game immersion, and the newly discovered ones are no exception.
A new patent from Sony, spotted by Tech4Gamers, aims to address latency issues in multiplayer games by using AI to predict player inputs in advance. The system involves a camera that captures both the player and their controller, records their actions, and then the AI model predicts what inputs will be made next. According to the document, "the command might be predicted and released before the user input action is completed, or might be delayed after completion and processing until a later time when the command is most appropriate for release."
This way, Sony may have found a new solution to reduce the delay between a player's input and the corresponding in-game action, a significant issue in online gaming.

Sony also filed a separate patent, as reported by Game Rant, for an attachment accessory that would allow players to aim the PS5's DualSense controller like a gun. As shown in the image below, players would hold the controller sideways and aim down between the R1 and R2 buttons. While this one aims to enhance gunplay realism, it's uncertain whether it would be comfortable, as DualSense may be ergonomically incompatible with this grip for long sessions.
