However, the company hasn't shared any numbers.

It seems that Sony is pretty satisfied with the results the company achieved after launching PlayStation Portal. In a recent interview with Game File, Hiromi Wakai, PlayStation's VP of Product Management, shared that the demand for the device keeps exceeding the expectations the company had for it.

"Although we don't have any numbers to share, the demand has continued to exceed our expectations," Wakai stated to Game File.

Speaking of the device's reception, Wakai mentioned that it wasn't a surprise for the company that people were skeptical of their product, adding that PlayStation Portal was initially designed for those with "specific needs" and distinct gaming preferences, hence the reactions following the announcement were as anticipated.

Also, Wakai shared that the device was never meant to be a standalone handheld and that the initial talks revolved around enhancing the console gaming experience, rather than introducing a separate handheld device.

"The initial discussions of this product started out from the question of how to expand the PS5 console game experience, not launch a separate handheld device," she said.

Speaking of games, the most popular titles on the device include EA Sports FC, Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Earlier, we reported that after the Portal was released, it was sold out on Amazon in less than a week.
