Soundtrack in Death Stranding 2 Will Change Based on How You Play

Hideo Kojima revealed a new exciting feature.

Hideo Kojima has unveiled a new gameplay mechanic in the upcoming Death Stranding 2: On the Beach – the soundtrack dynamically changes based on the player's actions.

The developer demonstrated the feature with the example video above. The song will change according to which route you take. When a character is on top of the hill, there's a melody and rhythm, but when he goes off track, the rhythm fades, and the tune becomes softer and more subdued. It's the same song, but a milder arrangement, with the piano and the strings instead of the full instrumentation.

According to Kojima, this adaptive audio system means that each player's experience will sound different, with the soundtrack reflecting their individual journey through the game.

Death Stranding 2 is slated for exclusive release for PlayStation 5 on June 26. The sequel, set almost a year after the previous title, brings Sam Bridges to Australia. The trailer suggested that fans can expect more Metal Gear vibes,  and the game is also said to feature the most advanced photo mode ever, which will impact the story.
