Star Citizen Gets More Than $600M From Backers In 11 Years

The epic space opera from Cloud Imperium Games proves again it is the most expensive game project ever.

According to the official website of Star Citizen website, the game received $600,335,552 from its backers. The project has been in development since September 2012 so it took Star Citizen 11 years to reach this staggering milestone.

As for other stats, the game reached 4,762,266 accounts and generated an additional $50 million since March. Previously, Game Rant made a list of the most expensive games ever made, and without a doubt, the project from Cloud Imperium Games took the first spot.

In case you missed the news, the studio is also creating a single-player campaign that they plan to release before the multiplayer mode. The release date of Squadron 42 with Gary Oldman, Mark Hamill, and Mark Strong is still unknown. You can find the official website here

If you're looking for other sci-fi projects, Off the Grid, a battle royale game created by Gunzilla Games and District 9 Director Neil Blomkamp, got its first gameplay trailer. The dev promises a multiplayer mode supporting 150 players per server.
