Star Citizen Has Raised Over $550 Million

Players have donated around $8 million since the start of the year.

Cloud Imperium Games keeps breaking crowdfunding records. Its in-development multiplayer, space trading, and combat simulation game, Star Citizen, has garnered over $550 million.

At the time of writing, the game has reached $551,753,194 in crowdfunding. The number of users registered with Star Citizen is also impressive – it reaches more than 4.4 million players. This means that the average pledge per citizen is $124.7.

The previous milestone of $500,000 was reached in late September 2022 meaning that Cloud Imperium Games raised an additional $50,000 in about five months.

According to CCU Game, over the past year, the developer managed to receive approximately $113 million for the development of a space simulator, which is 31% more than in 2021. Additionally, the stats on the website shows that since the start of 2023, donations have totaled around $8 million.

Star Citizen has been in development for more than ten years. The game is set to be a blend of space simulator, first-person shooter, and MMORPG and feature four playable modes, with each of them providing a different player experience. It is still unclear when the game will finally see its release.
