Yesterday, we discussed Mike Ybarra's, who is the President of Blizzard, vision for the future of the company. Ybarra shared that he was optimistic about the upcoming changes, which are connected to Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, and he believed that Blizzard would gain more independence in the future than ever before.
During the recent interview with Bloomberg, Ybarra also addressed the company's plans for franchises that have been neglected following the deal with Microsoft. When he was asked about the future of StarCraft, Ybarra hinted that if Blizzard decides to continue the series, it may not necessarily be in the real-time strategy genre.
"It's not me saying, 'Go make a StarCraft game'. I need to have someone who has the vision and passion that comes with the idea, and I'll bet on that team," Ybarra said.

As Bloomberg noticed, Blizzard has experienced a significant departure of developers specializing in real-time strategies in recent years. Consequently, by the end of 2023, the company may face challenges in developing the next installment in the StarCraft universe within the real-time strategy genre.
Ibarra did not provide any hints regarding the nature of the next StarCraft game. Based on his response, it seems that Blizzard is not currently actively working on any projects within the StarCraft universe. However, it is possible that the company is choosing to keep any developments in this area confidential.
In January 2022, it was revealed that Blizzard was working on a new survival game set in a completely different universe. The company has been engaged in this project since at least 2018. However, despite this, the game was not showcased at the BlizzCon 2023 event. Hopefully, there will be more details regarding the survival game.
