Game Developer Eric Barone, most commonly referred to by his alias ConcernedApe, has recently shared a comprehensive list of new features that are coming to Stardew Valley, Barone's world-renowned farming simulator, with the release of the long-awaited 1.6 update, an update that ConcernedApe paused Haunted Chocolatier for.

According to a sneak peek shared by the developer, the upcoming update will satisfy both new players filling in their first Bundles and hardened veterans with millions in their pockets and thousands of kegs scattered throughout the valley. While not as enormous as the previous 1.5 update, which, among other things, added the entire Ginger Island, 1.6 still has some great improvements for both early- and late-game.

As revealed by ConcernedApe, the update brings three new festivals, one major one and two smaller ones, tons of new items and crafting recipes, including at least one new plant, a new totem, and more, a new character and what seems to be new types of frogs, including a void frog, new late-game content that centers around expanding on each of the game's five skills, and a brand new farm type.

Furthermore, the update is set to bring Joja alternatives to some of the end-game quests, an important improvement to those weirdos who choose the Joja route, 100+ new lines of dialogue, support for 8 players multiplayer on PC, and winter outfits for the villagers, as well as smaller fixes and improvements, new secrets, and more.

Shortly prior to the announcement, the developer also shared a cryptic screenshot, providing a hint at what he might have meant by "Joja alternatives" to end-game quests:

The update's release date, however, hasn't been disclosed. You can follow ConcernedApe on Twitter so as not to miss any future announcements.

In other Stardew Valley-related news, last month, "The Official Stardew Valley Cookbook" was announced, being written by Ryan Novak, the author behind The Stardew Valley Guidebook and Hollow Knight Wanderer's Journal, and ConcernedApe himself. The book is set to hit the shelves sometime in April 2024 and will feature more than 50 recipes from the game, accompanied by "vibrant photography and original illustrations".
