Stardew Valley 1.6 for Console & Mobile is Under Development

Fixing bugs on the console version takes a longer time, and the devs wish to release it without game-breaking issues.

Beloved farm sim Stardew Valley received a 1.6 update this year, but it was available only for PC players while fans waited for its release on mobile and consoles. The game's developer, Eric Barone, known as ConcernedApe, commented on the possible launch for these platforms.

The dev took to Twitter and said he was doing everything possible to bring the game to mobile and consoles. "The ports require extra work beyond the PC version," Eric explained. He also added that a new patch for PC players was under development and aimed mainly at fixing the bugs.

Later, Eric once again stated that console and mobile ports had been the main focus since the release of the 1.6 update. He also touched upon the creation of another project, Haunted Chocolatier, which was halted due to the effort put into bringing Stardew Valley to mobile and consoles.

The dev explained that fixing bugs on PC versions can be done very quickly, often within a few hours after discovering the issue. On console, tackling various problems takes much more time, and releasing a version with unaddressed bugs would lead to game-breaking or save-corrupting bugs. The prolonged work on the other platforms' versions is due to the intent to release the version without issues that prevent the players from enjoying the game.

The 1.6 update was highly anticipated and introduced a lot of new modifications to the game, including new festivals and events, a new farm type, and many more. The update was free, and Eric said that he would never charge players for his game's DLCs or updates. Also, the dev recently shared that he was open to collaboration with Fortnite.
