Stardew Valley Creator Donated $125,000 to MonoGame C# Framework Which Holds His Game Together
He will also provide monthly support for the project
Eric Barone, better known as ConcernedApe, the creator of the number-one farming simulator Stardew Valley, uses some of the money he gets from his hit game to support other developers, like the makers of MonoGame, the C# framework utilized by Stardew Valley since 2021.
Barone has made "a very generous initial donation of $125,000 and an ongoing monthly commitment to the project," according to the MonoGame developers.
"This extraordinary show of support, alongside ongoing contributions from other studios and individuals, helps ensure MonoGame continues to be the open-source C# framework that game developers of all sizes can rely on."
Before MonoGame, ConcernedApe used Microsoft XNA for Stardew Valley but switched to the new framework because it "futureproofs the game and allows mods to access more than 4 gigs of RAM."
At the moment, Barone is working on his new game, Haunted Chocolatier, but he never forgets about what made him famous and says that Stardew Valley might be getting updates for the next 50 years.
