This resulted in the platform hiding user reviews for the game and a batch of negative reviews from players.

Recently, a Steam developer's tactic of 'enticing' players for positive game reviews by offering free in-game items has sparked a lively discussion within the community.
As reported by DualShockers, a Reddit user Glavurdan had posted a screenshot from the developer of Steam game Shinobi Warfare, which had provided step-by-step instructions for players to obtain 1000 free in-game gems. Players had to first write a positive review for Shinobi Warfare on Steam, take a screenshot of the review, and then forward it along with their game user ID to a designated staff member.

Before the Reddit post went viral, the game had ‘overwhelmingly positive’ reviews on Steam. Now by the time this story is written, the game's Steam page is showing 'No User Reviews', suggesting that action has been taken for violating Steam's terms of service. Furthermore, the game's recent reviews have taken a negative turn, as gamers express their displeasure with the developer's actions.

This incident serves as a reminder for developers who think about giving free items to obtain positive reviews or who already did since this is in clear violation of Steam's rules.
