Street Fighter Movie Gets New Trailer, and It Is Full of Game References

Let's compare these moves.

Paramount Pictures and Legendary released a trailer for their Street Fighter movie, and fans of the series will be happy to see that it's packed with references to the games. K.O.s, fancy moves, and crazy attacks look just as good performed by real people and set the tone of the movie: a little whimsical and a lot flashy.

IGN found the footage that the creators took as an inspiration and compared it to their human-performed version.

"Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!"

Legendary

The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai, aiming to "bring the battle from the arcade to the big screen with Hadoukens, roundhouses, and all your favorite characters."

Several years ago, Legendary Entertainment got live-action film and TV rights for Street Fighter, and now, it's ready to show what it's been cooking.
