Substance 3D Designer 15.1 Released
Introducing a revamped graph creation window, enhanced noises, an improved node menu hierarchy, and more.
We're likely seeing the final round of releases planned for this year, and Substance 3D Designer 15.1 has just arrived, following the previous update in July.
This version introduces a fully redesigned graph creation window aimed at improving the initial user experience in Substance 3D Designer. Thumbnails now give you quick visual previews of each material type, and the expanded tooltips fill you in on all the important details. Plus, everything's better organized now, with templates sorted into clear categories like materials, filters, and scan processing.
You'll also find material samples like fabrics, wood, metal, plastic, ceramic, and more, to help you kickstart your projects and get familiar with the main node families in Substance 3D Designer.
This release brings much better support for non-tiling scenarios, so noise patterns now behave the way you'd expect, even when tiling isn't required. Most noise nodes now come with extra parameters too, and finally, bit depth is no longer locked to 16-bit.
With so many nodes available, finding the one you need can be tough. To streamline this process, a new Group attribute has been implemented at the graph level. When this attribute is defined, it's used to organize and sort the search results.
