Substance 3D Modeler Introduces Primitives & OpenVDB Support

Adobe has released Substance 3D Modeler 1.10 and Substance 3D Modeler 1.10.5 in beta, adding the option to import and export OpenVDB files and introducing primitive object types along with a new Outliner interface panel.

While the latest release of Substance 3D Modeler 1.10, the stable version of Adobe's multisurface 3D sculpting software is mainly focused on UI and quality-of-life improvements, it also introduces the support for OpenVDB files import and export, meaning now it's possible to edit volumetric assets made in other 3D software.

Substance 3D Modeler 1.10.5 beta unveils a couple of significant new experimental features. As shown in the video above, the new Outliner interface panel aims to ease navigation for complex projects, providing an overview of the scene and another way to select and focus on the objects.

Primitives bring a new type of object that enables a new non-destructive workflow and allows you to use booleans between basic shapes to create complex geometry.

This release also includes features presented in Substance 3D Modeler 1.8.5 such as Asset Search, which hasn’t yet made it into the stable release.
