LogInPlayStation 5 sales grew 244% since last year.

July has ended but it proved very fruitful for the game industry thanks to plenty of promotions. According to the GSD data (via GamesIndustry.biz), discounts on PlayStation and Xbox resulted in Grand Theft Auto 5 becoming the most-sold game in Europe last month, followed by FIFA 23 and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Here is the top 10 list of bestsellers:

- Diablo 4
- Hogwarts Legacy
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- The Crew 2
- F1 23
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- NBA 2K23
The most popular new game was Pikmin 4, a Nintendo Switch exclusive, which placed 11th (but note that Nintendo first-party games do not include digital download figures.)
Overall, 11.6 million console and PC games were sold in July across Europe, which is 34% higher than in the same period in 2022. Out of this number, digital downloads represented nearly 7.9 million (up 60%), and physical sales were 3.75 million (up 0.2%).
As for hardware, players bought 493,000 consoles across tracked European countries (which, unfortunately, don't include two key territories in Germany and the UK), a 62.5% increase compared to July 2022.
PS5 sold 244% more consoles than in July last year and 24% more than in June. Year-to-date, PS5 sales grew 203% across the tracked territories.
Nintendo Switch sales dropped 9% year-on-year but stayed relatively the same year-to-date.
