Maya's Create VR offers more precise editing, a layer palette, a steady curve tool, and much more.

Create VR – an immersive conceptual 3D design tool – is available for Maya 2023 and enables more precise and extensive editing with its new tools.

Create VR is aimed at helping artists and designers "to start their creative process directly in 3D." They can manipulate form and shape using simple curve and surface tools while being completely immersed in virtual reality with their design.

This version's new features:

  • Transform Manipulator for more precise editing of objects or components
  • Added layer palette to controller quick menu
  • Assign objects to different layers
  • Steady curve tool for creating smooth sketch curves
  • Adjust curve thickness
  • Flip normals
  • Mirror an existing object or delete a mirrored object
  • Expanded selection modes for SubD tools
  • Configure symmetry planes
  • Import FBX files to edit NURBs and SubD objects using Create VR tools
  • Export as a smooth mesh for use in visualization applications
  • Export an FBX for further editing in other applications
  • HTC Vive Cosmos and HTC Vive Cosmos Elite headsets and controllers are now supported

Create VR supports Oculus Rift S, Oculus Rift, and Touch Controllers, HTC VIVE Pro, HTC VIVE, HTC VIVE Cosmos, HTC VIVE Cosmos Elite, and VIVE Controllers. To ensure the best performance, the company recommends using NVIDIA GTX 1080 graphics card or better and the processor not lower than Intel Core i7-7700 with a minimum of 16GB memory. The tool runs on Windows 10.
