Take a Look at the First Trailer for Mad Max Fury Road's Prequel Furiosa

George Miller is back with another iconic movie.

A trailer for George Miller's eagerly-awaited prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa, is finally out. Scheduled for release in May 2024, this post-apocalyptic epic will delve into the origins of Charlize Theron's iconic Fury Road character, now portrayed by Anya Taylor-Joy. Joining the cast are acclaimed actors Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, and Daniel Webber, alongside returning Fury Road stars Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus and Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic. Fans can look forward to an immersive and thrilling experience as the story of Furiosa unfolds.

Taking place in a nightmarish future where traditional societies have crumbled and natural resources like water have become scarce, Furiosa shares a tale of a younger Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) who is compelled to fight for survival after being kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers by the tyrant Dementus (Chris Hemsworth).

The trailer intentionally keeps the timeline between Furiosa's kidnapping and her journey towards freedom unclear. We can see that Furiosa has witnessed enough impact of men like Dementus on the world and how they changed it the way they wanted. This drives her to adopt a relentless determination as she fights for her freedom.

George Miller, the Director and creator of Mad Max, is returning to the franchise for the fifth time. He co-wrote Furiosa alongside Nick Lathouris, who has been part of the Mad Max series since the first film in 1979 and also co-wrote Fury Road.
