Team Ricochet Removed 19k Cheaters in Black Ops 6 Ranked Play

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Ranked Play is yet another event plagued by cheaters, to the extent that legit players feel the game is simply unplayable. 

Activision has claimed that it has continuously fought with cheaters. Its anti-cheating approach Team Ricochet is equipped with AI systems, whose codes continue to be optimized to be more powerful. Meanwhile, more than 19,000 accounts got banned since the Ranked Play started, and “hourly sweeps” are conducted to remove cheaters, including those in the leaderboards. 

However, these measures don’t seem to make any difference. One player said helplessly, “19k banned, 25k new accounts created,” and some others are getting bored of the same words from developers repeatedly and yet nothing has changed. 

Actually, this is not the first communication post regarding the cheaters issue in Ranked Play. On November 23, three days after the event began, an updating tweet highlighted the efforts they’ve made, including “identified and fixed a data outage that lowered efficacy of AI systems; adjusting existing thresholds for Ranked Play — aggressive targeting of suspicious accounts; accelerating Replay Investigations to review suspicious players.” 

Team Ricochet has been compared with another FPS from Riot Games, Valorant’s anti-cheating system Vanguard, which makes it harder for cheaters to use tools like aimbots and wallhacks. Coincidentally, a developer of Riot Games' anti-cheat (spotted by CharlieIntel) has some thoughts on how Ricochet, or even the overall anti-cheat approach from Activision, should be improved.
