Testing Out Unreal Engine 5's Geometry Script Plug-In

The setup allowed its creator to dig through a solid mesh.

Gameplay and AI Programmer Elhoussine Mehnik continues experimenting with Unreal's Geometry Script with yet another outstanding project. For those unaware, GS is a great plug-in for Unreal Engine 5, released earlier this year by the engine's creators, Epic Games. The tool contains a set of Function Libraries that provide the ability to generate and edit mesh geometry via Blueprints and Python, enabling dynamic mesh editing, slicing, applying Boolean operations to your meshes, and more.

This time, Mehnik presented a neat use case for the plug-in, showing how it can be used to make a sphere dig and cut through a solid mesh, leaving tunnels inside it. According to the creator, he used a simplified sphere for Boolean ops to set up this cool experiment.
