As many anticipated, during The Game Awards 2022, FromSoftware's Bandai Namco's Elden Ring has been named the Game of the Year, overcoming A Plague Tale: Requiem, God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West, Stray, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Released on February 25, 2022, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, the game put the player in the shoes of a customizable player character on a journey to repair the titular Elden Ring and become the new Elden Lord.
