Summer Game Fest
The highly anticipated fifth annual Summer Game Fest, a global showcase of upcoming video games, is to be held this Friday. As the date draws closer, people are growing more excited and can't help but think of the possible announcements to be made at the event.
To manage these high expectations and provide some insight into the event, organizer and host Geoff Keighley has addressed this year's showcase during a Q&A session livestreamed on Twitch.
"There will be, definitely, new announcements, but the show is largely focused on, I think, existing games that have new updates for fans" (transcription provided by Rock Paper Shotgun)
While there will indeed be unveilings, Keighley reminded that the show will not have a lot of teasers for games set for release in the distant future:
"this is not a show that has a lot of like 'coming in 2026' or '2027', or teasers for games that are years and years out... That's generally what I would say in terms of expectation setting."

That's to say, although we may not see blockbuster announcements for major new games, we can expect to see trailers showcasing new content for already-released games or those previously announced.
Just a reminder, the Summer Game Fest, expected to last around two hours, will be livestreamed at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm GMT on various platforms, including YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Twitter, Steam, and more.
