The existence of the second sequel was revealed via a press release and a single Twitter post.

In this day and age, it is usually considered the norm for AAA game developers to reveal their upcoming games as conspicuously as possible, with flashy trailers and lengthy social media posts, all with the simple goal of attracting as much attention as possible.

Ubisoft has recently decided to forgo all that, announcing the second sequel in The Division franchise, Tom Clancy's The Division 3, in the quietest way possible – with nothing but a press release and a corresponding Twitter post, which aren't even focused on the game itself but rather on the person and the studio who will oversee its development.

According to the announcement shared by Ubisoft's Lucy O'Brien, the production process will be led by Massive Entertainment, a Swedish video game development studio and a subsidiary of Ubisoft, which worked on the first two installments in The Division series.

The development will be overseen by Julian Gerighty, who worked on the first The Division in the role of Associate Creative Director and The Division 2 as Creative Director. He has now been appointed as the Executive Producer for The Division Brand and will assume his role after completing his duties as Creative Director on the upcoming Star Wars Outlaws, which he is currently overseeing.

As stated in the announcement, Julian's primary responsibilities will include assembling a dedicated team for Tom Clancy's The Division 3, ensuring ongoing support for The Division 2, and concentrating on the "solidification of brand identity".

"This announcement represents Ubisoft's dedication to the longevity of the brand," commented the developer. "In his new role, Julian will drive the many interdependent production elements of The Division brand in a unified direction. This includes development oversight, operations, and creative vision together with the development teams around the world who are currently developing the mobile game Tom Clancy's The Division Resurgence, Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland, and Tom Clancy's The Division 2."
