The Elder Scrolls VI Is "Progressing Well," Bethesda Developers Say

The creators from the studio shared some details about the title's creation.

Bethesda shared an update on the development of The Elder Scrolls 6, with the studio's creators saying that the game is in the works and that the majority of the studio is involved in its creation.

In a recent talk with Game Informer, Todd Howard, Bethesda's Director and Executive Producer, shared how the game's creation goes on, noting that the development continues with the largest part of the studio being engaged in its production: "It's progressing really well. The majority of the studio's on VI, but I'll say this: We always overlap. So, we're very used to overlapping development. And we have long pre-productions on things so that we feel good about them. And it's a process. We all wish it went a little bit faster – or a lot faster – but it's a process that we want to get right."

Angela Browder, Studio Director, notes that since the game had been announced, the industry has developed much, including the novelties in hardware, and the title would provide a wide range of new opportunities: "The Elder Scrolls VI is this endless set of possibilities that is really, really exciting as a developer."

Speaking of the timeline of the release, Studio Design Director Emil Pagliarulo shared that the developers take their time to craft the game, as such large-scale projects like The Elder Scrolls and, for example, GTA, require a considerable duration: "The size of these games, they take not just a long time to make, but a long time to spit and polish and iron out the bugs."

There's not much information about the next installment in The Elder Scrolls franchise. Before, there were some implications and suggestions, such as an assumption shared by Skyrim Lead Designer Bruce Nesmith, who suggested that the upcoming TES 6 will likely be more similar to Fallout 4 and Skyrim in terms of its RPG potential, rather than returning to the depth of Morrowind and Daggerfall, and shared his thoughts that it would be difficult for new franchise entry fully meet the audience's expectations, given the inevitable comparison with to previous titles in the series.
