The HBO Show Wasn't the Main Reason for The Last Of Us Remake

PlayStation Studios chief Hermen Hulst said that The Last Of Us was "ahead of its time."

The Last of Us Part I was released on September 2, bringing improved graphics and character models along with better enemy and character AI and other features. The fans have more to look forward to as the HBO show's release is planned for 2023.

Speaking about the remake, PlayStation Studios chief Hermen Hulst told Axios that while the original The Last Of Us was “a little ahead of its time in terms of its creative vision, against the limitations of the technology at the time,” the show was “not the sole reason, or maybe not even the main reason” for the remake. He added, “Obviously, if you can let that coincide, that’s the Holy Grail, right?”

Hulst also mentioned that the reason behind The Last of Us Remastered, which was released in 2014, was "to have a definitive version.

It seems like we should expect more remakes from Sony in the future, although The Last Of Us Part I made some players question the company's decision to create a pretty fresh game anew, to which one of the developers replied that it's not "just a cash grab."
