The Hideo Kojima Documentary is Out Now

"It's kind of like stepping into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory with Willy Wonka."

Directed by Glen Milner, also known as the author of "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story", the "Hideo Kojima: Connecting Worlds" documentary first premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last summer and follows the iconic video game designer's journey and offers a look into his creative process as he launched his own independent studio.

The documentary is an hour long and covers the early life and artistic inspirations behind Hideo Kojima's work, touching on his relationship with family and how growing up in post-war Japan made Kojima into the author of the definitive anti-war franchise Metal Gear Solid, although most of the documentary's runtime is centered around his work on Death Stranding at Kojima Productions.

It also includes appearances of Kojima’s collaborators like Guillermo del Toro, Grimes, George Miller, Norman Reedus, Woodkid, and Chvrches.

Since then, Kojima Productions has expanded its portfolio as it now has three games in development and a Death Stranding film.

"Our film is a celebration of Death Stranding and video games as an art-form. We really wanted to capture Kojima-san's thought process and philosophy behind the game as much as anything. How cultural influences and life experiences play a key role in the themes of his work and his creative outlook, not only for Death Stranding, but also for his own studio," commented Glen Milner, Director.
