The Last of Us game was loved and praised by so many people all around the world. Not only do fans think it's the best game of all time, but critics give good reviews as well. That was the reason why everyone was so looking forward to The Last of Us series adapted by HBO. After its premiere in January, The Last of Us series, featuring Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, rapidly became one of the most talked-about shows of the year. Viewership on HBO continued to grow virtually every week. Also, the series has become HBO's second-largest debut since 2010, attracting 4,7 million viewers who watched the first episode.
The Last of Us series garnered not only popularity among audiences, but also received recognition from the TV Academy with 25 Emmy nominations. These nominations include Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama for Pascal, and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for Ramsey.
And the question that has been flying around since is if and when there will be a second season. So, here is the news: The Last of Us season 2 is "ready to go", but not until the strikes end. This is what Neil Druckmann says to EW. A Senior Director at Universal Creative, Mike Aiello, joined his colleague and teased the audience by saying "there's cool stuff in there".
Here is what Craig Mazin, the Co-creator, Co-writer, and Executive Producer of the series said:
"We were able to map out all of season 2. And I also wrote and submitted the script for the first episode and sent it in [to HBO] around 10:30 or 10:40 p.m. right before the midnight [makes a "kajoomph" sound] and the [WGA] strike began."

Also, earlier on, Mazin hinted that the creators had already decided on a candidate for the role of Abby, but they could not formally complete the casting due to strikes.
Here is some news for those who've been waiting for the third game in The Last of Us series. The response from one of the Naughty Dog's creators, Druckmann, was that he couldn't say anything, otherwise: "My comms director over there will slaughter me."
