The New Version of Ucupaint Brings Blender 4.1 Support & Baking Denoiser

ucupumar's "free alternative to Substance 3D Painter" has been upgraded to version 1.2.

In case you missed it, last week, 3D Artist and Developer ucupumar launched Ucupaint 1.2, a new and improved version of their texturing add-on for Blender, described by many as a free alternative to Substance 3D Painter.

For those unaware, Ucupaint was first released back in 2022 for Blender 2.79+. It enables its users to manage texture layers for Eevee and Cycles renderers, enhancing the software's texturing capabilities and making the artists' workflows more convenient.

With the latest 1.2 update, the author has added a plethora of new features, improvements, and bug fixes, significantly expanding the add-on's capabilities. Among the highlights of this update, ucupumar has integrated support for Blender 4.1, introduced a brand-new baking denoiser, included custom bake targets for packing multiple channels into a single image, added a new mask type, unveiled the option to bake masks as images, and much more.

On top of that, the release has made Group operations less resource-intensive, sped up the merging of layers/masks of multiple objects with the same material, and ensured that Ucupaint now only utilizes necessary nodes.
