On October 4, during the developer update livestream, Blizzard announced that they would bring Diablo 4 to Steam on October 17. Following the release of team-based shooter Overwatch 2 on Steam in August 2023, Diablo 4 becomes the second Blizzard game to join the platform. Blizzard undoubtedly hopes for a more positive reception from fans this time. Notably, Overwatch 2's Steam launch faced significant backlash from players, resulting in it becoming the lowest-rated game on the platform for some time.
The highly anticipated launch of Diablo 4 on Steam will align with the beginning of its new content season, known as the Season of Blood. This season will revolve around the theme of Vampiric Powers and will introduce exciting features, such as a fresh quest line and the inclusion of five additional endgame bosses. Fans can expect a thrilling and immersive experience as they dive into the depths of this new season of Diablo 4.

The standard edition of the game will include bonuses for other Blizzard titles, including the Inarius Wings and Inarius Murloc Pet for use in Diablo III, as well as the Amalgam of Rage mount for World of Warcraft. For those opting for the Ultimate Edition, in addition to the standard edition bonuses, players will also receive the Wings of Creator emote, the Temptation mount accompanied by the Hellborn Carapace mount armor, and an accelerated Battle Pass unlock that grants 20 tier skips and additional cosmetics.
