
Electronic Arts has announced that starting October 18, 2022, its hit social simulation game The Sims 4 will be available to new players for free on multiple platforms including Windows via EA app or Origin, Mac via Origin, Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
EA noted that players will be able to download the base game free of charge, however, additional content and all free base game updates will require separate purchase.
The publisher also revealed that EA Play and EA Play Pro members will receive additional benefits when member-only bundles of the game go into The Play List on October 18. EA Play members will also get The Sims 4 Get To Work Expansion Pack and EA Play Pro members will receive The Sims 4 Get To Work Expansion Pack and The Sims 4 Toddler Stuff Pack.
Additionally, EA announced that from September 14 through October 17, players who have purchased The Sims 4 base game will get the Desert Luxe Kit, which allows Sims to relax in their "modern oasis with luxurious indoor and outdoor furniture", as a gift.
EA also shared that with The Sims 4 going free-to-play, the team will focus on creating new The Sims 4 experiences and will develop and release new packs, kits, and Sims Delivery Express drops in the near future. The company will share more details on what it is working on right now during a special-edition stream, Behind The Sims Summit on October 18, 2022.
