The Spinning Cat Meme Recreated as a Stop-Motion-Like 3D Animation

The master of fake stop-motion TheCKLu strikes again.

As hard as it is to believe at first glance, what you see above isn't an actual stop-motion animation, but rather a brilliant 3D sequence brought to life by the master of "fake" stop-motion, known online as TheCKLu.

Having previously paid tribute to the Coffin Dance, the artist sticks with the meme theme, this time recreating the oiia spinning cat meme in digital space. Despite appearances, everything on screen – the cat, the stand, the green background, even the "animator" who appears in several shots – is entirely 3D and made using Blender.

Interestingly, this isn't the first time Blender and the spinning cat appear in the same sentence. Previously, Flow director Gints Zilbalodis celebrated winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature by also recreating the oiia meme with Flow's feline protagonist in Blender – the very software the team used to bring Flow to life:
