Terraria's Dev Re-Logic Wants to Avoid End-of-Year Crunch

The launch of the 1.4.5 update has been moved to 2025.

Re-Logic

Re-Logic, the developer of the beloved open-world sandbox Terraria, shared that the 1.4.5 update will not be released in 2024.

In a recent State of the Game update, Re-Logic states: "We are pretty certain that there is no way that we will see Terraria 1.4.5 release this year." The developer explained the reason for the decision, pointing out the difficulties of launching the titles at the end of the year "fraught with peril due to review cycles, people leaving early for the holidays, etc.," especially if the release is global and for PC, mobile, and console.

Re-Logic stated that they would not make their devs "crunch" only to release the game this year: "The hope was that we would be able to get things in ahead of that end-of-year mess, but that isn't looking to be the case. We are also not going to force anyone on our team or anyone else's team to crunch for what would be an arbitrary deadline."

"The next Terraria update is moving along into 2025," Re-Logic summed up. "We are sure that will not be welcome news for many – but we remain committed to being a quality-first studio, so we will take the time necessary for each update to feel "just right."

Also, Re-Logic revealed one of the upcoming features – Infused Fertilizer, which makes trees grow extra high:

In 2025, there will be not only the release of the 1.4.5 update but also the launch of the Palworld and Terraria crossover. There's not much detail yet, but the developers promised to share more information soon.

Back in 2022, Terraria became the first game to reach 1 million reviews on Steam while maintaining the status of Overwhelmingly Positive.
