The Thing and Human Torch To Join Marvel Rivals Soon

NetEase promised to introduce a new hero into its third-person hero shooter Marvel Rivals every half-season in order to maintain players' engagement with the title. As the first half of Season 1 is ending soon, the developer has announced two new heroes, The Thing and Human Torch, will be available when the second half of Season 1 starts next week, on February 21.

The excitement surrounding the new characters was soon buried by the anger over a planned rank reset that was scheduled to come along with the update, which will make players lose progress. As explained by the dev diary, in the original plan, players were expected to see a four-division drop at half-season updates and a drop of six divisions at the start of a new season. 

Soon after the huge complaint was poured out on social media, NetEase just announced a decision to remove the rank reset for half-season, so "players will retain their ranks and scores from the end of the first half." 

This quick adjustment has turned the attitude of unhappy players 180 degrees, who expressed their gratitude for the quick response and timely action to players’ voices. "Awesome choice. This is why your game will have longevity and succeed. Honestly, just bought a skin bc of this," says a player. 

However, the latest announcement didn’t mention if the rank will be reset when a new season starts, so more information could be expected later.
