The Witcher Fans Aren't Too Happy About Netflix's Season 4 Official Trailer

"Geralt of IKEA."

Season 4 of Netflix's TV adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher has finally received an official release date, revealed by the showrunners in a new trailer.

And while the confirmation that the series will return in less than a month – with the premiere set for October 30 – did spark some excitement, the trailer itself has largely disappointed The Witcher fans, many of whom, to put it mildly, were not particularly impressed with its depiction of Geralt of Rivia, now played by Liam Hemsworth following Henry Cavill's departure.

To many fans, the new take on the Butcher of Blaviken strayed far too much from his original portrayal in the novels and even CDPR's game series, losing both his signature deep voice and his stoic, emotionless demeanor. Both flaws were perfectly highlighted at around the 1:27 mark in the trailer, where the embodiment of the strong and silent type loudly shouted, "Let's f***ing move!" – something many agreed a real Geralt would never say.

Despite what you might assume, few have actually criticized Hemsworth, with most viewers agreeing that their disappointment with Geralt's portrayal isn't the actor's fault. Instead, fans have aimed their frustration at the show's writers and producers, questioning their ability to create a faithful adaptation – not unlike Henry Cavill himself, who left the series over creative differences with the showrunners.

At the moment, the trailer sits at an over 2-to-1 dislikes-to-likes ratio, with the comment section representing a contest for the wittiest jab at Season 4's White Wolf, with some examples including "Geralt of Temu," "The Switcher," "The God of Thunder," and "Geralt of IKEA."
