This 2D Stop-Motion Adventure Set In Mythological Japan Will Be Released in Just Few Hours

Get ready to enter a carefully crafted ancient Japan filled with mythology, folklore, and battles in The Spirit of the Samurai.

We’ve been following up on the development of The Spirit of the Samurai for a while now. It is an upcoming action-adventure 2D game with Soulslike and Metroidvania elements. If you’ve been impressed with the game’s unique and brutal stop-motion cinematics and can’t wait to get your hands on the game, get ready, as the game will be available in just a few hours.

In case you missed our previous articles, in an epic adventure with Metroidvania elements, players will take on the role of Takeshi, a Japanese samurai who has to protect his village, a tiny Kodama forest spirit, and a warrior cat named Chisai. Each character offers unique ways to interact with the world, from intense sword combat to precise platforming and exploration. You will experience a carefully crafted ancient Japan filled with mythology, folklore, and battles against undead monsters and demons.

Although we’ve viewed quite some in-game footage shared by the developer before, it’s still a refreshing experience with the newly shared clips, which lead us to the dark foggy night scene, accompanied by a soundtrack that enhances the unease feeling:

The Spirit of the Samurai will be available on Steam in just a few hours. As mentioned earlier, the developer also aims to release it on Atari VCS at a later date; meanwhile, they’re considering a console release so more players can access the game from their preferred platforms.
