Made using RealityCapture and Nira.
Arash Keissami, a Technical Director and Co-Founder of Nira.App, has showcased an absolutely mind-blowing photogrammetry-made 3D cell tower model with a level of detail so high, it's possible to read the serial numbers on it.
According to Arash, the tower was reconstructed in the digital world using 900 photos captured with the Phase One camera and RealityCapture, a renowned photogrammetry software that recently got upgraded to version 1.5. To render the tower, the author utilized Nira, a collaborative real-time 3D rendering platform that allows you to render and view your models from the convenience of your web browser.
"A point cloud might be better in some cases because it can represent thin cables more effectively," commented the creator. "Reconstructing thin parts into a mesh usually doesn't work very well. However, this model didn't suffer from that issue since RealityCapture had sufficient data to accurately reconstruct even the thin parts. Of course, reading serial numbers on a point cloud is probably impossible."
