This Blender Add-On Brings Localized Atmospheric Effects to Your Scenes

Volume Forge is a Blender add-on from Depth Optica for faster and more practical creation of volumetric effects in Blender.

The add-on lets you add localized volumetric light and fog, without filling the entire scene with the fog setup. With the tool, you can place the atmosphere exactly where you need it to be visible in the frame. The tool allows for adding a sharp light beam, haze, fog, or a more stylized volumetric accent. The goal of such an approach is the faster creation of the atmospheric effects, higher controllability, and faster rendering as the scene becomes more lightweight without a scene-wide physical fog.

You can save the setup you created and use it in your next projects with a User Presets system, without the need to rebuild the effect manually for every new project. Presets save Volume Forge parameter values. This feature ensures a more streamlined workflow and consistency across several similar scenes.

When creating the atmospheric setup, you can adjust fade, breakup, color, masking, shadow response, and overall volume shape, and add diverse effects, from a clean beam to something softer, dirtier, or more atmospheric.

Volume Forge includes two different ways to create atmospheric effects: Light Volume, based on an emissive "fake fog" approach, and Real Fog, which uses a true volumetric fog setup. The add-on works with Eevee and Cycles.
