This Game Combines Don't Starve Gameplay With Cuphead's Visual Style

Check out GOMBO, an upcoming 2D survival game with rubber hose graphics.

Today, let's have a closer look at GOMBO, an upcoming 2D survival game that masterfully combines Don't Starve's gameplay mechanics and top-down camera with Cuphead's iconic rubber hose-style graphics.

First announced back in early August, this old Disney-inspired title is being created by a Solo Developer known online only as Martin. As per the developer's showcased demos, the game is set in a stylized, whimsical world inhabited by both peaceful critters and formidable, yet endearing, bosses who wouldn't appreciate your attacking them.

Presumably, GOMBO's gameplay loop would strongly resemble that of Don't Starve and Don't Starve Together, tasking you to gather resources, craft items, and find ways to deal with the hardships the world throws at you.

Furthermore, it has been confirmed that GOMBO will include multiplayer functionality, enabling you to team up with your friends for cooperative survival. Alternatively, you can also opt to activate PvP mode and engage in combat with them should you desire.

Currently, the game is in its initial stages of development, and substantial information about it remains quite limited. Nevertheless, Martin consistently provides valuable insights by sharing demos that offer a glimpse into the creation process of GOMBO and highlight the new features being developed for it. Attached below are some of the earlier demos shared by the developer:

We highly encourage you to visit Martin's Twitter page to learn more about the upcoming title. Also, don't forget to join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on InstagramTwitter, and LinkedIn, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
