This Indie Game Lets You Start Your Own Doomsday Cult

You do want to start your own doomsday cult, right? Right..?

If there's one thing we all love video games for, it's that they allow us to do morally dubious things without anyone thinking you're a creep and/or calling the cops.

Scratching this itch in particular is JOIN US, a newly announced co-op simulator from Wolf Haus Games that lets you start your own doomsday cult, create its belief system, recruit disciples, spike their drinks with some weird-tasting Flavor Aid, build a cult base, clash with locals and government officials, and perform sacrifices – all to help your flock survive the impending apocalypse.

As the leader of your own sect, your main task is to attract as many recruits as possible, using propaganda, managing infamy, and making your cult appealing enough that people don't leave. Once a follower joins your flock, you can put them to work, play as them, or enlist their help on missions, with each follower having unique strengths, weaknesses, and abilities you can take advantage of.

Together with your disciples, you'll need to build and maintain your compound, practice your beliefs, no matter how bizarre or questionable the rituals are, build an arsenal of weapons – what's a cult without its own armory? – and fend off attacks from dirty heathens and heretics, a.k.a. locals and police, who, for some inexplicable reason, aren't too happy about you LARPing as Marshall Applewhite in their backyard.

"We know this is kind of heavy – and we didn't want to be the ones to break it to you. But the Apocalypse IS coming. Planet Earth is going to be reborn. Your best chance to survive is to… JOIN US. Got it? Good. Now go forth and do cult stuff."
