This Photorealistic Porsche 911 Walkaround Animation Was Made in Blender

At first glance, it's almost impossible to tell that the project is CG.

Believe it or not, what you see in the GIF above isn't an actual video recording but rather a 3D walkaround animation showcasing a 1984 Porsche 911 (930) created by Petter Steen, an experienced VFX Artist known for his expertise in automotive renders.

Taking digital photorealism to a whole new level, this animation was made using Blender, Unreal Engine, Maya, Substance 3D Painter, and Nuke, employing 22 UDIMs at 4K resolution. Additionally, the creator implemented a simple character animation to set up the reflection on the car's surface.

Apart from a few tiny details revealing its CG origin, the render is nearly indistinguishable from reality, so as proof, the creator also shared a viewport version of the animation to demonstrate its authenticity:

And here are some static shots shared by Petter, you can check out more by visiting the artist's Instagram and ArtStation pages:

A couple of weeks ago, we also highlighted Vintage Vibes, a photorealistic automotive render set up using a combination of Cinema4D, OctaneRender, and DaVinci Resolve:
