In Spirittea, you will be put in charge of a decrepit old bathhouse, tasking you to get said facility up and running and use it to turn troublemaking spirits into paying customers. To keep your bathhouse operational, you must keep the towels clean, cater to the guests' culinary needs, ensure the water is perfect for each spirit, and facilitate connections among friends while keeping enemies apart.
Keep in mind that each spirit has its own preferences, so you'll need to get to know them all and upgrade the bathhouse accordingly in order to become the best bathhouse keeper around.

Other gameplay features include:
- Solving the spirit's problems: To remember themselves, they'll need anything from some spicy noodles to finding and digging up their lost treasures.
- Making friends with the locals: The townspeople all have their own schedules, likes, dislikes, and hobbies to take part in – from bug catching to karaoke, there's something for everyone!
- Upgrading and decorating: The local shops can make a whole lot of cool furniture and help you fix up your house. Make your new house your home!
