Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, suggested adding a game into a reading list in all high schools in the country.
This War of Mine is one of the most successful titles of the polish game development studio, 11 bit studios. Released in 2014, the survival game shows the war from the civilians’ perspective and brings players a challenge to survive in an almost ruined and besieged city. The game has been critically acclaimed, and its’ new view for the players has become a key feature.
Due to the shown perspective and gameplay, the game will be added to the school program in Poland from the school year 2020/2021 as a new approach to learning the history and culture of the country.
The new idea is to be discussed with the Minister of Education of Poland. In case of its acceptance, the pilot program is going to be the first case of using a game to tell students about the people and history of the country.
