Todd Howard Calls Reddit's Starfield Community "Gaming's Smartest Fans"

The head of Bethesda has addressed the fans ahead of Starfield's approaching release.

In light of Starfield's forthcoming release, the head of Bethesda, Todd Howard, took to Reddit to directly address fans and express gratitude for their passion and excitement regarding the studio's long-awaited space RPG.

In a post shared on the r/Starfield subreddit, Howard mentioned that he remembers the subreddit's beginnings and its growth, highlighting how the audience's enthusiasm has fueled the efforts of Bethesda's development team. He also praised Reddit's Starfield community as "gaming's smartest fans", emphasizing that their commitment to building a community around Starfield means a lot to the developers.

"Hey everyone! Long time lurker here. A quick THANK YOU for your passion and excitement for Starfield. I can remember when this sub started, and as it's grown, your excitement has fueled all of us at Bethesda. We like to say we have gaming's smartest fans, and you certainly are," reads Howard's statement. "Starfield has been a labor of love for us and the fact that all of you care enough to build a community around it means the world to us. We can't wait for you to play."

Additionally, a lengthy internal letter written by Bethesda's Director has recently made its way onto the Internet. This letter showcases Todd Howard's expressions of gratitude towards Bethesda's development team, ZeniMax Media's Robert Altman, and Xbox's Phil Spencer for their continuous support for Starfield.

The letter was first shared by Windows Central and has been officially verified by Microsoft as authentic. You can read it in full by clicking this link.

"A huge thanks to all of you within the Xbox and Bethesda family. Your enthusiasm and encouragement have meant the world to us," Howard wrote in the letter. "Creating this game has been one of the most challenging and thrilling experiences of our careers – a journey we'll never forget. And as we come to the end of this chapter, we pass it along to you. Each of you is receiving the game with Early Access, and can begin playing this Friday, Sep 1st, but since it’s one global time you can actually play Thursday evening (Thanks New Zealand!)."

Earlier, Howard also joined GQ for an interview, providing some details on Bethesda's new games. In the interview, he confirmed the presence of the New Game+ feature in Starfield, noting that the game adds a unique and exciting twist on the mode to incentivize continued and repeat play, and revealed that he considers The Elder Scrolls 6's way-too-early announcement to be a mistake and wishes to have approached the occasion differently.
