In the meantime, the company is busy finishing their sci-fi adventure Starfield.
Bethesda, which recently showcased the first gameplay demo of Starfield, revealed they have a couple of plans for their next projects. In an interview with IGN, Bethesda’s Todd Howard said Bethesda Game Studios is developing Fallout 5 eventually after making Elder Scrolls 6.
"Yes, Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and, you know, we’re going to be doing Fallout 5 after that, so our slate’s pretty full going forward for a while," Howard said. Little is known about the release date of Fallout 5 or even Elder Scrolls 6. Given that Starfield is expected to launch in 2023, and Elden Scrolls won't be out until 2026 or 2027, we shouldn't be expecting Fallout 5 sooner than 2030.
Fallout 5 would be the next game in the popular series since the release of Fallout 76. Howard also told IGN that they "have some other projects that we look at from time to time as well."
