Tool for Controlling Blender with Your Phone Gets an Update
Phone = Blender Controller? Yes, please.
Back in June, we featured a tool by Wanderson M. Pimenta that allows you to move objects in the software using your Android phone. The Object Controller enables users to move and rotate their 3D objects, which is even more enjoyable if they are rigged. Moreover, you can bake the motion into keyframes for animation.
The developer has just released an update for the Object Controller addon (which is still an optional companion to the main Camera Controller tool, by the way). Wanderson updated several properties to prevent conflicts with the Camera Controller, improved compatibility when running both add-ons together, and introduced better mobile device integration via a UDP connection.
You can get the free demo version on Gumroad, where you'll find both Camera Controller and Object Controller. There's also the Plus version, which includes animation recording capabilities - you can hit the Record button, and your object movements get baked as keyframe animation.
Once again, the author noted that this addon is more of a fun experiment/side project. The primary focus remains the Camera Controller, and the Object Controller serves as a more playful extension rather than a production-ready tool.
