Touhou-Inspired Happy-Walking Reimu Animation Made in Maya

SayoshiCreate presents a new 3D animation made using MegaBuBu's free rig.

3D Animator known as SayoshiCreate continues bringing stylized digital characters to life, unveiling a new lighthearted sequence featuring Touhou Project's Reimu Hakurei enjoying a happy walk.

According to Sayoshi, the animation was set up in Autodesk Maya using a free cartoony Reimu rig made by Senior Technical Artist Chonlawat "MegaBuBu" Thammawan. The animator mentioned that the showcased result is still a work in progress, suggesting that a more refined and complete animation is going to be presented at some point in the future. We highly encourage you to follow SayoshiCreate on Twitter so as not to miss any future updates.

Speaking of MegaBuBu, recently, the artist demonstrated a partly-finished rig of what appears to be a model of Touhou's Marisa Kirisame, which uses Maya's RBF nodes to drive a set of controls. "No physics or collision-related stuff, these are like pre-posed skirt poses that use the leg position as a trigger," commented MegaBuBu.

You can download MegaBuBu's stylized Reimu and Sanae rigs by visiting the author's Gumroad page.
